Act of God

The Finance Minister, Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman says, the current bad economic situation is an "Act of God'. She should know, as she is the FM of the country and therefore in the know of all that is worth knowing and I will not dispute her assessment. She is not alone. The world, on the whole, is facing an economic crisis because of the pandemic Covid-19. 

Governments survive on taxes and taxes come from the earnings of citizens and businesses run by these citizens. 

The question is -is Corona an act of God? Initially, it was blamed on China. It was even said that the virus was engineered by China to spread it in the whole world, destroy the economies of other countries, particularly of the USA and eventually become a superpower. The few deaths in the country were collateral damage, a small price to pay for a larger gain. So, it was not an act of God.

Then, in India in particular, yajnas were performed to kill the virus but it did not work and therefore, has nothing to do with God. 

Lockdowns were declared. Thalis and drums were beaten, candles were lit, dances were staged to please the God but it also did not work because it was not an act of God.

Millions of people were affected by the virus but all of them did not die. A majority survived because of medical support. It was not an act of God. 

The medical fraternity is engaged in finding a sure treatment for the disease and invent a vaccine to fight it. Baba Ramdev claims to have found the Ayurvedic treatment for the disease. You cannot fight an act of God by medicines or vaccines. So, it is not an act of God. 

So, what is it?
